Synapsis

Investment Overview

In early 2011, Riverwood led the carve-out of Synapsis from its parent company, Enersis S.A.  Following the investment, Synapsis embarked on an aggressive expansion plan both in terms of service offering and geographic footprint, while maintaining its 23-year tradition of delivering the highest quality of services to customers.

Ambarella

Ambarella is a technology leader in low-power, high-definition video compression and image processing solutions. Ambarella products are helping to define a new class of hybrid consumer digital cameras that combine unmatched high-definition video and digital still images together in one device. Ambarella technology is also widely used in television broadcasting with a significant amount of TV programming worldwide being transmitted using Ambarella compression chips. Additionally, Ambarella SoCs are well-suited to drive the latest generation of HD security IP cameras. Ambarella is the recipient of the Global Semiconductor Alliance (GSA) 2011 award for “Most Respected Private Semiconductor Company.”

Investment Overview

In January 2012, Riverwood completed a transaction in which it led a minority investment in Ambarella.

Ambarella had an IPO in October 2012.  Riverwood fully realized its investment over the following year.

BrightSource Energy

BrightSource Energy designs, develops and deploys concentrating solar thermal technology to produce high-value steam for electric power, petroleum and industrial-process markets worldwide. In 2012, Riverwood led an investment in GoIntegro, targeted at accelerating its rapid growth, continuing to invest in the development of its SaaS platform, and expanding the GoIntegro team throughout Latin America.

iFLY

Over the last decade, iFLY has flown over 5 million people. Mandic is Brazil’s leading managed IaaS provider, offering managed public cloud, cloud backup and storage, and cloud collaboration tools.  It strives for excellence in terms of service quality and customer support.  It currently serves more than 19,000 customers.  Its core products include managed cloud servers, hosting and e-mail solutions.

Investment Overview

In early 2012, Riverwood acquired Mandic S.A. and combined it with Tecla S.A., a spin-off of ALOG Data Centers do Brasil.  As part of the transaction, Riverwood contributed capital into the combined company to fund an aggressive growth initiative.
