Thomas Been is an Executive Advisor to Riverwood Capital where he serves as a part-time consultant for the firm and its portfolio. He is also currently the Chief Marketing Officer of DataStax. Prior to this role, Thomas was Chief Marketing Officer of Druva where he led the company’s demand generation, partner marketing, awareness, branding, and thought leadership initiatives. He is driven by a curiosity about the impact that data and technology can have on businesses. Thomas first honed his technical knowledge in customer-facing roles at New Era of Networks and Sybase (acquired by SAP). Subsequently Thomas joined TIBCO where he held a variety of strategic sales and alliances roles before joining the marketing leadership team. As CMO of TIBCO, Thomas grew the company’s awareness by leveraging voice of the customer advocacy and highlighting the impact of TIBCO’s technology on the World’s top sports teams. Under his leadership, Thomas’ organization tripled the contribution of marketing to the revenue via targeted, engaging, and personalized digital experiences.

Thomas holds a baccalaureate degree from Collége Franciscains, and a Masters in Physics from Université Cote d’ Azur.
